Clarifications on Bulk Bag Specifications

Definitions and conditions that remove ambiguity when ordering FIBCs for agricultural or mining cargo.

What does "heavy-duty" mean for FIBCs?

"Heavy-duty" refers to the fabric's tensile strength and the bag's safety factor, typically 5:1 or 6:1. For mining aggregates, we specify a woven polypropylene fabric with a minimum basis weight of 200 g/m² and reinforced cross-corner loops. This configuration handles sharp edges and repeated lifting without premature wear.

How is bag capacity measured?

Capacity is stated in kilograms based on the bulk density of the material, not the physical volume of the bag. A standard 1000 kg FIBC for grains has a different fill height than one for crushed stone. We always confirm the bulk density of your product before recommending a specific bag size.

Which materials suit a standard FIBC?

Standard FIBCs are suitable for dry, free-flowing materials like rice, maize, soybean meal, and dry fertilizers. For materials with high moisture content or irregular lumps, we recommend an inner liner or a different fabric weave. Mining aggregates with sharp edges require a heavier fabric and a baffled design to maintain shape.

Are custom dimensions available?

Yes, we produce FIBCs in custom widths, heights, and lifting loop configurations. Minimum order quantities apply for non-standard sizes. Tell us your pallet dimensions and the filling equipment you use, and we will adjust the bag geometry to fit your existing handling system.
